Frequently Asked Questions
Explore the answers to some of the most common questions our urban gardeners ask us.
Is this site completely free to use? +
Yes, 100%. Our site is free of use and there is absolutely no need to sign up. All our tools, calculators, and blog posts are provided for educational purposes.
Do I need to create an account to use the calculators? +
No. We believe in unrestricted access to gardening education. You can use all 10 of our Smart Tools anonymously.
How accurate are the plant watering schedules? +
Our schedules are based on established horticultural formulas simulating evaporation rates in hot apartments. However, always manually check your soil before watering!
How does GreenNook make money if it's free? +
We display non-intrusive advertisements via Google AdSense. Doing so allows us to keep the servers running while keeping the content free for you.
Can I use these calculators for outdoor gardens? +
Our tools are specifically calibrated for indoor environments, taking into account container restrictions, apartment ambient humidity, and window light filtration.
Why aren't my plants surviving despite the calculator? +
Calculators provide a strong theoretical baseline, but micro-climates matter. Drafts from AC units, nearby heating vents, or exact soil composition changes real-world results.
Can I suggest a new calculator? +
We would love that! Please visit our Contact Us page and drop us an email with your calculator idea.
Are your images and content original? +
Yes, we produce 100% original, long-form human content detailing our experiences with indoor apartment gardening in extreme heat.
Do you sell plants directly? +
No, currently we only provide educational resources and tools. We do not operate a nursery or an e-commerce store.
What if I don't know my apartment's humidity level? +
You can buy a cheap digital hygrometer online for about $5, or check your local weather app and subtract roughly 10% if you run an AC unit.
